Within the SDI Germany, the Working Group Spatial Data Services is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Germany-wide application profiles for spatial data services. This is done in close cooperation with the other Working Groups in the SDI Germany.

Presently, the WG Spatial Data Services focuses on accompanying the reviews of the INSPIRE Draft Implementing Rule for Network Services. The WG examines and assesses the documents in order to derive recommendations for the SDI Germany. Besides the INSPIRE tasks there is also the upcoming study of a new version of the WCS (Web Coverage Services) and the WCPS (Web Coverage Processing Service – Query Language for Multidimensional Raster Data). The aim is to assess the significance of this up to now not very widespread service for the SDI Germany.

In addition, the WG takes over the task of evaluating the specifications of the WMS profile at regular intervals. New developments are discussed and the profile is adapted if necessary.
